Weapon X & Maverick

Wolverine's modern origin is often associated with the Weapon X programme. Thanks to his incredible ability to heal, he was the ideal candidate to undergo the experimental process of fusing the metal adamantium to his skeleton. The programme did succeed in creating the near-indestructible soldier it was looking for, but soon regretted making the savage and uncontrollable weapon known as Weapon X.
