Waffen Ss

Tough, well-equipped, and heavily indoctrinated, Waffen-SS troops represented a powerful military force within the German war machine. With more than 38 divisions and numerous smaller units at regimental and battalion levels, the Waffen-SS reached nearly one million men in service. Their armoured divisions earned a formidable reputation on the battlefield, despite sometimes strained relations with regular army units. From the early years of the war to the final stand in Berlin in 1945, Waffen-SS units often fought with relentless determination under extreme conditions.
