During the brutal Japanese offensives of 1941 and 1942, British forces in the Far East suffered significant defeats, leading many to view the Japanese soldier as nearly unstoppable in the dense tropical jungles. However, Brigadier Orde Wingate believed otherwise and set out to prove that the Empire could strike back, deep behind enemy lines.
